Day 120: Port Lincoln
It is a much warmer day today with a max of 23 C expected. It is time get the shorts and T Shirt back out of the cupboard, something I was not expecting to do for some days yet.
Our morning activity is mainly shopping. As well as food, there are a few other items that we have not been able to get since leaving Perth, and Port Lincoln is the only sizeable city where we can get some of them.
After visiting the local Drakes supermarket, BCF and BWS we had most of what we needed.
As we are in seafood heaven, our choice of venue for lunch was simple. The Fresh Fish Place, was our choice. It is seafood outlet with a substantial restaurant offering as well, located about 4 km out of the city centre in an area where sea food outlets seem to gather.
The range of seafood offered for retail sale is amazing and whilst much of it is local, products sourced from far away are also for sale. Most of it is frozen, which have got used to on this trip. But they did have some fresh fish and oysters.
It was the very fresh flathead fillets that captured our attention, and we had fish and chips, with the flathead cooked from scratch, dipped in fresh batter and cooked to perfection.
This afternoon we had a bit of a rest and then went to a local craft brewery, Port Lincoln Brewing Company, only about 1 km away. It was 3 pm when we got there and the place was empty, but it was apparently full for lunch and it is a big venue.
It is a very modern brewery and a couple of the beers were very good. I particularly liked their IPA and decided to buy some. Sadly, they had none in stock ! This is not the first craft brewery we have visited where they didn't have stock of the beer I wanted. We left empty handed and went back to our caravan.
A little later a quick trip down to the shoreline fish cleaning table was necessary to shuck some more coffin bay oysters for entree tonight. This park is so big, we ended up driving down to the table which is at a far end of the park next to a boat ramp.
